5. Innovating and new ideas

There are multiple ways for businesses to innovate. Developing new products or variants of existing products is one way, another is to change the way you produce or deliver your product, doing it more efficiently.

Various local opportunities are available. For businesses and entrepreneurs looking to develop a new product with a positive environmental impact, or working with data, contact the Impact Lab in Exeter for specialist technical support and academic expertise.

Innovate UK

Innovate UK post funding opportunities to develop game changing ideas, links to specialists and various events.

They have established the Catapult programme of innovation centres. Each Catapult centre specialises in a different area of technology, but all offer a space with the facilities and expertise to enable businesses and researchers to collaboratively solve key problems and develop new products and services on a commercial scale.

Innovate UK also administer Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, which create three-way collaborations between a business, university and graduate to develop an innovative commercial idea for your business.
