Reporting dead wild birds

An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) was declared across the whole of England on 11 November to mitigate the risk of the Avian Influenza (bird flu) spreading. This comes alongside the sad news that a number of black swans in Dawlish have died, and were tested positive with the H5N8 strain of the virus.

Reporting dead animals

 

We will remove dead animals from the public highway when they have been in an accident or died of natural causes.

We check animals for a microchip once they have been collected and contact the owner if a microchip is found. If a microchip is not found we keep a brief description of the animal and the location it was collected from.
