Climate Change Emergency
Our councillors have committed to plans that will help the authority become carbon neutral by 2025 and we are working with others to reduce negative impacts on the environment across Devon.
On 18 April, our Full Council declared an environment and climate emergency. A letter asking for support and backing from central government was sent to the Prime Minister from the Leader of the Council on 1 July.
We have been playing a leading role in tackling climate change for some time, with lots of work completed and on-going in the Council Strategy’s ‘Zero Heroes’ project.

Background data
We are collecting study material as part of our commitment to tackling climate change. This will inform Councillors as they set policy across the range of our operations and should also prove useful to members of the public.
Carbon footprint
As part of a response to the Climate Emergency, we will measure and report our organisational carbon footprint on an annual basis.
