5. Devon Home Choice bidding
Homes are advertised from 12:00am on Wednesdays to 11:59pm the following Monday. You can bid for up to 3 homes during this time. There are no homes to bid on a Tuesday except Shared Ownership properties.
Adverts are placed by the landlords and most will ask for rent in advance. This could be anything from one week to eight weeks. When you register for Devon Home Choice you will be advised you need to start saving towards this cost. Landlords may be willing to consider part payment of this cost and a payment plan depending on your housing situation but in most cases will want the full amount before they offer you the property.
Teignbridge District Council does not usually help with any rent in advance for social housing unless in an emergency and it is likely we will negotiate for you to repay this.
