2. Can I remove a hedgerow?

Hedgerows on land other than domestic residential boundaries are protected under the Hedgerow Regulations.

You must apply for permission to remove a hedgerow. No works may be done before a decision is made.

Clicking on the Start Button below takes you to the government's planning portal where you can apply online using a hedgerow removal notice form. You will need to register online to submit your application.  There is no fee for this application. You can choose to submit a paper application form instead.

You will receive a decision normally within 8 weeks.
