Private man and van services
When you employ a private company or a man-and-van service, it is your responsibility to check they have a license to remove waste.
Registered waste carriers are listed with the Environment Agency and will take your waste to an authorised disposal site.
Enforcement Actions
We will take action against anyone who fails to ensure their waste goes to an authorised person. If prosecuted and convicted, you could face a fine of up to £5000.
Environmental Enforcement Officers also issue fixed penalty notices of up to £400 if they see you dumping waste or leaving unwanted items outside your home or in public places.
Beware of Rogue Traders
Rogue traders often pose as legitimate waste contractors using local papers and social media. Some may show up at your door if they see waste on your property. Beware of these traders as they often fly-tip waste.
