Camping gas canisters
Camping gas canisters should be taken to your local recycling centre for disposal.
Candles
Please put used candles in your black wheeled bin. Unused candles can be taken to a charity shop or you could try local community groups, or local craft and hobby groups.
Scrap candle wax and unwanted candles can be taken to collection points for the Recycled Candle Company where they will be reused to make new candles. They can also be sent via post.
Cans
Cans can be recycled in your black recycling box.
They can also be taken to a can recycling bank or your local recycling centre.
Carbon Monoxide Alarm
Take to your local recycling centre, and recycle with other small electricals.
Cardboard
Use your green recycling box, please fold or tear your boxes so that they fit inside your box.
Large boxes that don't fit in your green box should be taken to a recycling centre or recycling bank.
Carpet
You can take carpet to your local recycling centre, or arrange for it to be collected through our bulky waste collection service .
Cartons
Cartons (Tetra pak's) can be recycled at a carton recycling bank.
Cassette tapes
Cassettes cannot be recycled due to being made of multiple components, please place these in your black wheeled bin.
Cat litter
Wrap carefully and put in your black wheeled bin.
CDs and DVDs
Unwanted disks can be reused to make DIY bird deterrents or cut up to make mosaics to decorate plant pots, picture frames or mirrors.
Unwanted CDs can also be taken to a charity shop.
CDs and DVDs are not recyclable and would need to be put in your black wheeled bin.
Chemicals
Chemicals eg. weed killers, pesticides, white spirits, bleaches, old medicines and any other household chemicals should be taken to a recycling centre for safe disposal.
Please check the recycling centre's website for restrictions and further information.
Clothes
Clothes and textiles can be put in a carrier bag, tied up and left next to your recycling boxes on your usual recycling day.
Coffee pods
Single use drinks pods/capsules are not widely recyclable. However, many brands run recycling schemes for their products. See Podback.
If your coffee pods are 100% plastic or 100% foil and clean they can be recycled in your black recycling box.
Compostable packaging
Compostable packaging cannot be recycled with your food waste or garden waste. Most compostable packaging needs to be industrially composted. Check with the manufacturer if it can be composted at home. If not, put in your black bin. We recommend using reusable items wherever possible to reduce your waste.
Computer equipment
Take to a recycling centre or other electrical collection point.
Alternatively, all stores that sell computers should have recycling points for your old ones.

Crockery (China)
Please wrap broken plates, mugs, bowl and other types of tableware before placing them in your black waste bin.
If your crockery is still usable, please take it to a local charity shop.
