Repair cafés
If you break something, volunteers at your local repair café may be able to fix it.
Repair cafés are community run initiatives, often held in village halls and other similar venues.
Volunteers offer their time and skills to mend broken items. They often repair items such as bikes, mechanical items, clothing, laptops and other household electricals. Many also offer sharpening services.

The next time something breaks, pop along and see if your local community can fix it for you.
Community fridges and larders
If you have surplus food, you can take it to a local fridge or larder to be used by others.
You can also visit your local fridge to see if there is any donated food that you can eat or use.
These fridges and larders are run by volunteers and are free to use and open to all. They are a great way to reduce food waste.

If there isn't a fridge or larder near you, there are also apps you can use to find food that is going spare at the end of the day.
Share sheds
If you need a drill, wallpaper stripper, carpet cleaner, tent, extra table or other infrequently used item, you may be able to borrow it from a local share shed.
A share shed is also known as a library of things. You become a member and can then reserve and borrow items as and when needed.
