Black bin

Waste that cannot be recycled is collected from you black wheeled bin every two weeks.
Use your black bin for:
Waste that cannot be recycled, including:
- nappies
- hygiene products
- plastic wrapping, bags, film and crisp packets
- polystyrene
- cat litter
- dog poo bags
Please do not put the following items in your black bin:
- garden waste
- recyclable waste
- DIY or trade waste
- food waste
Side waste and overfilled bins
- all waste must be contained inside your black bin with the lid closed
- overfilled or heavy bins cannot be emptied for health and safety reasons
- bags of waste left outside your bin will not be collected unless placed in approved additional waste sacks

What happens to your waste after collection:
Waste from your black wheeled bin is taken to an energy from waste plant in Devon. At the facility the waste is burned, with the resulting steam powering a turbine, which generates electricity.
