Prepare your recycling
Cardboard
- flatten, tear or fold your cardboard to fit inside your recycling box.
Large cardboard boxes should be taken to a recycling bank or your local recycling centre. If your cardboard is too big to fit in the compartment on the lorry, it will be left behind.
Glass
- rinse your glass jars before placing them in your box to remove food residue.
Small electrical items
- put your batteries, cartridges, and mobile phones in a small, clear plastic bag for collection.
- place them on the top of your box so that they can be seen.
How cardboard is recycled:
Cardboard is sent to Kent or mainland Europe. It is made into a pulp before making new boxes and packaging.

How glass is recycled:
Glass bottles and jars are taken to Wales. They are crushed and sorted into colours before being melted and blown into new bottles and jars.
