Anglers are welcome visitors to Decoy Country Park, Newton Abbot. Please take care of wildlife and other park users by following the guidance below.

Permits

To fish at Decoy, you will need to have a valid permit per person. A permit allows up to 2 rods per person and you must carry the permit with you when fishing.

Anyone over 12 years must have an Environment Agency Rod Licence with them. 

Terms and conditions

  • Be respectful towards wildlife, the natural environment and other park users.
  • Fishing is permitted in the main lake only and not in the Magazine Pond.
  • Only marked fishing pegs or platforms with numbered posts can be used.
  • Daytime fishing only - 1 hour before sunrise until 1 hour after sunset.
  • Landing nets and tackle should be clean and disinfected to mitigate the introduction of invasive species.
  • Fish must be handled carefully and unhooking mats must be used.
  • Fishing with barbed hooks or lead weights is not permitted.
  • Do not use ground bait.
  • Do not use a keep net.
  • Never leave a baited rod unattended.
  • Cutting back shrubs or trees, raking out or removing any sort of aquatic plant life is not permitted.
  • Please keep you fishing area tidy to avoid causing hazards.
  • If you lose a hook or fishing line and unable to retrieve it safely please contact Green Spaces 01626 215751.
  • Remember to take all your belongings and litter home with you.

Catch report

Why not provide a catch report either publicly or anonymously. This will enable us to monitor the fish stocks and provide information to anglers visiting Decoy. Visit our Facebook and Instagram pages or email us providing relevant details and pictures.
