Apply for a minor variation of a premises licence
If the changes are small and do not impact the licensing objectives then you can apply for a minor variation.
Examples of minor changes could include:
- adding certain licensable activities
- small adjustment to licensing hours (excluding supply/sale of alcohol)
- minor changes to the structure or layout of your premises
- removal of out of date or unenforceable conditions
The four licensing objectives are:
- the prevention of crime and disorder
- public safety
- the prevention of public nuisance
- the protection of children from harm
Cost
There is a fee of £89.00 for a minor variation.
You will need to complete an application form and send this, together with the fee and the current premises licence, to us.
A public notice must be put on display at the premises on plain A4 white paper for 10 working days (as from day after application received by us).

We will review your application. If we need more information, we will contact you.
We will also ask for advice from responsible authorities to see if your application affects any licensing rules. If there are no concerns within 10 working days, we will approve the minor change.
According to the Licensing Act 2003, if no objections are raised, the licence will be granted. If there are objections, we will consider them before making a decision. If we reject your application, you can apply again through the full variation process, but you won’t get a hearing for the minor change.
